The Divergent Channels
The Divergent Channels are especially interesting in the context of complex and chronic illness. In the classical channel system, they describe pathways connecting the exterior with deeper internal systems and offer a way of thinking about how the body may redirect, contain or adapt to difficult influences over time.
This does not mean that a Divergent Channel treatment removes or treats a tumor. Rather, it offers another classical framework through which to understand the person living with the illness.
For one person, the Primary Channels may remain the clearest level of treatment. For another, the Sinew, Luo, Divergent or Extraordinary channel systems may better reflect the current presentation. The aim is not to pursue the cancer with increasingly aggressive acupuncture, but to ask: What does this person need from treatment today?
